In the beginning it was a Master (Prezes) and his Dog (Ged). 

Riverside Walk or Happy Ending

On Sunday afternoon three Trip Leaders plus Ged, the dog, showed up at Rowland Park Lookout to discuss plans for the season and get into form. It was still kind of cold in the wind, but it didn't stop us from the esthetic pleasures of looking at our beautiful city across the river. 

Spring fever in Mill Creek Ravine.

Taking advantage of a wave of warm weather, Andrzej Jedrych arranged for a spontaneous, "before the season," training for a small group of our members. He invited us all to Mill Creek Ravine, where, volens, non volens, the participants managed to hike for over 10 km.

River Project - Second Leg - Laurier Park to Capilano Landing

For the Second Leg of my River Project I was joined by the Most Excellent Peter Yuca. This leg was shorter - only 16 km, which took us, with very relaxed paddling, 3 hours.

Picasso Flats

While individual members of our club have been biking for a while, trying to take advantage of every opening in the weather, it was only last Saturday that we managed to collect a bigger group. We did a 17.8 km long trail, which I named "Picasso Flats," as it is mostly over the flat terrain and the participants can see the sculpture by Picasso. Meeting with Tomasz Kobielski

With great pleasure, we would like to invite everyone to the meeting with Tomasz Kobielski, one of the top Polish Mountaineers, the Conqueror of the Crown of Earth (the highest peaks on all continents, which includes Mt. Everest). On invitation from our member, Jacek Maciaszczyk, and in cooperation with the Polish Culture Society, Mr. Kobielski will visit Edmonton on 31 Oct. His meeting, and slide show, will start at 19:00 in the Polish Hall, 10960-104 Street, (next to Royal Alexandra Hospital). There is no entry fee (!) and light refreshments will be served. 

This is a rare opportunity to meet with the World Class Mountaineer! We hope to see you ALL there!

Edmonton from the river.

I have done a few kayaking trips over North Saskatchewan River, starting in Devon and finishing at Whitemud Crossing. So when my friend, Peter, suggested we explore what is down the river, I jumped in.

Awards Gala from 2018 Photo-Competition was another joyous even if slightly self-centered celebration. It happened in Polish Syrena Club in Edmonton and was attended by approximately 25 club members. Awards were given in 10 Categories plus Award for the Best Comment and Grand Prix Award for the Best Photo of the Year 2018.

In Category A – „Ludzie i góry” – Piotr Rajski Award – “People and the mountains” the award went to Yanek Wojcik

for his picture: "Spiderman, Spiderman! or Dancing on the slabs" ...

Ania Kupnicka Classic - czyli zakończenie sezonu.

Wygląda na to, że tradycją się staje Ania Kupnicka Classic jako ostatnia aktywność sezonu (see also Ania Kupnicka Classic 2017). Może to perspektywa zbliżającej się zimy sprawia, że zarówno jak w zeszłym roku, ta wycieczka rowerowa okazała się bardzo popularna.

Wądół Potoku Czarnego Błota czyli Ania Kupnicka Classic

Na ostatnią rowerową wycieczkę sezonu zaprosiła nas do siebie Ania Kupnicka. Ja zaproponowałem wyprawę do Blackmud Creek Ravine, co by można przetłumaczyć jako Wądół (nawet nie wiedziałem, że takie słowo istnieje w języku polskim) Potoku Czarnego Błota. Trasa wyglądała mniej więcej tak:

Według pomiarów Przemka wykonaliśmy 22 kilometry w ciągu około dwóch godzin. Na ostatnią wycieczkę, może ze względu na perspektywę odłożenia roweru na zimę, zgłosiła się rekordowa (!) liczba osób - włącznie z Anią było nas ... trzynaścioro! A oto uczestnicy tego sprzyjającego wydarzenia:

Bogdan-Ela Classic Bike Ride

Wybraliśmy się w ostatnią niedzielę na kolejną wycieczkę rowerową. Pogoda była przepiękna, może nieco momentami wietrznie, a trasa znakomita - na cześć Gospodarzy Wycieczki, Znakomitych Bogdana i Eli Tomczyk, postanowiliśmy ją nazwać Bogdan-Ela Classic. Mamy nadzieję ją powtórzyć w przyszłości.

Bike ride 15 Oct 2017

Nasty winds outside seem to encourage me to recall the pleasures of the last Sunday. With temperatures approaching 15C, and sunny, windless afternoon, we had excellent conditions for our bike ride. Five riders disembarked their bicycles at my place, but we have reached the full strength only about 20 minutes later, at Fort Edmonton Footbridge.
