We started, naturally, at Whitemud Crossing.
Soon we reached the footbridge between Laurier and Hawrelak Parks.
The skyline of our city, Edmonton, showed shortly thereafter.
Low Level Bridge followed.
And then, what else, High Level Bridge.
Besides the passing LRT trains, High Level Bridge rewarded us with the view of "a street car called desire" ...
... I didn't know was still in operation. The video is here.
Solid footing! Unfortunately, the height of this bridge, reportedly, makes it very popular with suicide jumpers.
Then came Centennial Bridge, finished not so long ago.
Elegant construction!
At quite a leisury pace we proceeded further.
There were some works being done, I assume, to make the river better accessible.
Around the downtown ...
... two friendly police officers, who themselves seemed to have a lot of fun on the river, checked upon us. Luckily, we both had our flotation devices on ourselves.
It was lovely to see one of the landmarks of Edmonton, historic Hotel MacDonald, from this perspective.
Oh Canada!
Then Peter rushed to explore the Queen of Edmonton!
While I looked more closely at the new footbridge being built East of downtown.
Downtown looks very impressive from every direction.
Then came Dawson ...
... and Capilano Bridges.
We finished our trip shortly behind this footbridge (I didn't see before) near 50th Street. The whole trip took us 3.5 hours.
In spite of periodic views like this, we didn't experience any olfactory discomforts.
Next, we would like to kayak from 50th Street to Fort Saskatchewan. Anyone interested?
