Nancy and Barbara nearing the summit, followed by Gaggi. |
Travelling with Mike (Trip Leader) and Barbara we arrived at the hot springs around 10:00 am with a bit of smoke from under the hood.
We discovered that squirrels created a very well organized depot in Mike's car. He was of the opinion that these must have been "Barbara's squirrels."
Anticipating that I will be the slowest in the party, after "elbowing up" with the Trip Leader ...
... and overcoming Barbara's protests ...
... I hit the trail.
In the meantime the other participants arrived: Barbara K. (taking selfie), Witek, Elizabeth, Barbara W., Roman, Nancy (plus two kids - sorry I didn't get their names), and Mike who welcomed the latecomers - Gaggi and Keith.
After some yoga, but of course, they followed me.
Barbara, Nancy and Gaggi were the first ones who caught up with me. I stand corrected: first were Nancy's children but not seeing them before I didn't know they were the members of our party.
After about two hours of hiking I reached the section of the trail that was covered by deep, wet snow. This happened to be too painful for my arthritic hips, so I decided to go down.
One my way down I met this lovely couple - Roman and Ela (and what a delicious apricot cake she baked for all of us!) ...
... followed by Barbara and Witek.
After showing Mr. Trump what we think about his idea of making Canada the 51st state ...
... I continued my descent while Roman, Barbara, Ela and Witek reached the plateau below the summit. With such a comfortable seating, I am not surprised that they didn't feel like going any higher.
The summit was reached however by Mike, Barbara W., Keith, Gaggi, Nancy and the kids.
I understand that some dancing took place ....
and bird feeding from the hand (Gaggi becoming like St. Francis) ...
, but no one this time (what happened the Club's tradition?) exposed his/her torso to the wind.
The wind was not that bad this year; still after one hour Gaggi gave the signal it was time to go back.
On their way down they encountered a couple of "phallic snowmen" - unmistaken sign that Barbara's lovely hands were busy playing with her imagination.
The day was overall quite lovely. It rained between Hinton and Edmonton, but not in the mountains.
Perhaps the Mother Nature didn't want to interfere with all this love?!
When they reached Miette Hot Springs ...
... I had already been soaking in the pools for 1.5 hours. Mike couldn't resist to take this picture of the Prezes with KT-taped knees! Oh well, I will soon turn 71.
While others went to the pools, with Barbara and Witek, we had a delicious supper at the Greek restaurant. The spanakopita and the Greek salads were superb. Witek, however, complained that his lamb chops were somewhat greasy. They both enjoyed the Greek beers though.
Then, it was time for "one for the road" (non-alcoholic beer)(notice Gaggi positively glowing after the water purification of Miette Hot Springs) ...
... and another 4 hours drive back to Edmonton. As during the ride, with Mike and Barbara, we discussed men's fixation with female breasts, conditionings by our mothers (including guilt trips), ups and downs of our early encounters with the other sex, you can imagine that the trip appeared to be very quick and entertaining. :-)
Can't wait for the next trip with all these wonderful people. Join us next time!
