2026 Nova Scotia and PEI Expedition

Between 12 and 21 of September 2026, a thirteen persons strong, elbows-up, "expedition" of the Polish Men and Women Mountaineering Club of Edmonton explored Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in the Maritimes of Canada. During the trip we visited Halifax, explored Cabot Trail and PEI.

Kinglet Lake Hike in Nordegg area

Traditionally, we spend the Heritage Day long weekend celebrating in Nordegg's Shunda Creek hostel, for the last few years. This year it was the weekend from Jul 31 (FRI) until AUG 3 (MON).
It was a nice group of hiking friends, consisting this time of Basia W, Mike, Roman, Witek, Basia K, Julian, Gosia, Bozenka, Grazynka, Ania from Banff, Jacek and Agnieszka from Calgary.
We decided to hike to the Kinglet Lake, which is 11 km return and 785 metres vertical, according to AllTrails.

Wasootch Ridge in Kananaskis, because Ribbon Lake Trail was closed

Our recent trip to Kananaskis (July 17-19, 2026) was undertaken by the members of our Club with the intention to hike to the Ribbon Lake, which is a long and demanding hike of more than 22 km and around 1000 metres elevation gain.

However, we found out at the Visitors Centre that the trail to the Ribbon Lake is closed , due to flooding, therefore we needed to find an alternative. But Beatka quickly cheered us up by showing her new spectacular sunglasses.

2025 Photo-Competition Awards Gala

 

The Awards Gala for 2025 Photo-Competition took place on 19 April in the auditorium of Faculty St. Jean in Edmonton, thanks to the kind invitation by Witek Kurpiński. The Gala attracted about 40 people interested in mountain film and photography. Yours truly had the honor of running the first part of the Gala (awards), with the assistance of Witek Kurpinski (scene engineer, lights) and Yanek Wójcik (slide show, music).

New Zealand (2025)

 

Between 23 November and 8 December 2025, an eight person "expedition" of Polish Men and Women Mountaineering Club of Edmonton explored the South Island of New Zealand. During this trip we visisted: Christchurch, Edoras, Mt.Cook/Aoraki National Park, Lake Wanaka, Queenstown and Fiordlands National Park. 

The members of the expedition were: Piotr Rajski (Leader), Dragan Radovic, Andy Rutkowski, Ewa Stroemich, Mike Trzecieski, Barbara Walter, Jolanta Wroblewska-Wilk and Marianna Zaremba
