2020 Photo-Competition Awards Ceremony

We used to have our Awards Ceremonies in the beginning of February in Polish Syrena Club. However, this year, due to Covid restrictions and closure of the Syrena, we had to look for some alternatives. In the end, the Ceremony took place yesterday, 5th of June, in Hawrelak Park. And what a joyous occasion it was:

First, the Vice-President, Mike, secured a wonderful location, allowing for proper fire purification ...

... and after assigning the task of feeding of the fire to Wojtek and Sławek ...

... took a few people for a hike around the park.

In the meantime, I was left with the task of preparing the grill ...

... which would be a gruesome job if I didn't have a few charming helpers!

The results were fantastic! Served with such breasts ... I meant to say, hands ... Italian sausages, bratwurst and weisswurst were simply ... irresistible!

The table was full of goodies. There is nothing like these Polish potlucks!

Barbara baked the cake (or did she?) ...

... while Ela, Joanna and Teresa provided some strange looking drinks, possibly non-alcoholic (brr!).

After we reinforced ourselves properly, there was time for the official ceremony.

In Category A - "People and the Mountains" - Barbara and Witold Krzymień Award - Basia handed over the first prize to Boris whose photo "Quo vadis, homine?" took the first place. (You can have a closer look at the winning photos in this announcement.)

However, to the great disappointment to Boris, she only offered him an "elbow kiss!"

As neither the founder nor the winner in Category B - "Mountain landscapes" - were present, we moved to Category C - "Mountain Humor" - Mike Trzecieski Award. This category was won by Marysia Wójcik's photo - "Stop Horsing Around."

On behalf of Marysia, the bottle of wine was gladly snatched by the proud father - Yanek.

Then came Category D - "Mountains Enhanced" - Michal Kańtoch Award, which was won by Basia Krzymień's photo - "Almost Like a Painting." In the absence of the Founder, who however delivered the prize (!), the award was handed over by Piotr.

In Category E - "Mountain Archives" - Yanek Wojcik Award - the first place went to Bożena Maciaszczyk for her photo "Mountain relations." The winner was not present but the prize was delivered and can be picked up at any time.

(missing photo)

In Category F - "Mountain Selfie" - Ela Tomczyk Award - the winner was Yanek Wojcik for his photo "BFF Selfie."

There were some discrepancies about what "BFF" stands for, but in order not to offend children, I will not pursue it any further.

We skipped Category G - "Pretty Woman in the Mountains" - as neither the founder (Marek) nor the winner (Dusia) were present.

Somewhat similar situation took place in Category H - "Sexy Man in the Mountains" - Bożena Maciaszczyk Award. The winner, Gennady, "the sexiest man alive" (in our club) was not present; however the prize was delivered (!) and symbolically accepted by also very sexy Teresa.

So, Gennady, I have your prize - you may pick it up at your convenience.

In Category J - "Postcard from Vacation. Amaze me!" - Jacek Maciaszczyk Award - the winner was Andy Rutkowski for his photo "Forget fancy destinations. Live simply in Mexico." The prize was delivered by the Founder (!) and promptly handed over to Andy.

In the newly created Category L - "Video with a Twist" - Beata ...

... and Andrzej Jędrych Award, technically the winner was this writer ...

... for the clip "Swan Lake on Moose Mountain" but the glory naturally belongs to the dancers ...

... so I will gladly share the prize with them.

In Category M - "Mountain Flora and Fauna" - Bożena and Jacek Wojno Award - the first place went again to Yanek Wojcik for his photo "This all is about love!"

In Category K - "Best Comment" - Ania Kupnicka Award - the first place went to ... no, yet again? ... Yanek Wojcik (I think he should inform the taxman that our Photo-Competitions are his secondary source of income)! Ania promptly read his comment that can be found here)

Finally, the Grand Prix - President's Award for the Best Photo of 2020 went again to Boris for his photo "Quo vadis, homine?"

If it was not enough, some of the participants, who haven't won any prizes, were given opportunity to pick up a reading from among the books so generously donated to the Club by Jacek Wojno.

Naturally, Pani Kierowniczka snatched the best one just ahead of Wojtek.

After the official part was over, there were still some "unofficial pleasures:"

... relaxed conversations ...

... some "classical American woman-on-woman actions" ...

... and, what else, ... "balety!"

So much joy in this club, so much joy!

Alor ... join us in the mountains and ... take pictures! Perhaps you will be between the winners next time!

Thanks to Andy, Mike, Yanek and others for permission to use their photos.

A bientot!
