Solo ascent to Mount Lougheed, peaks 2 and 3, Kananaskis, Sept 05, 2020

Solo ascent to Mount Lougheed, peaks 2 and 3, Kananaskis, Sept 05, 2020

I started my trip at 08:30 on August 5th 2020.  A couple of cars were already parked by the trailhead, a couple more pulled over as I did final preparations. A few hikes will later become my temporary companions, as they also were going to Lougheed 2 and 3.

As always, the first couple of hours were spent by walking through  the forest, passing by Spencer Creek. Not much excitement, nor photographs were taken until after I emerged above the tree line into the valley between the wall of Mount Sparrowhawk on one side

Healing vertigo on Tent Ridge Horseshoe

 6 September 2020

With a weather deterioration warning, what looked like a big expedition to Tent Ridge Horseshoe in Kananaskis, was reduced to just five persons: Mike, this writer, and three Fantastic Women! Though the clouds were heavy in Banff in the morning, for the whole day we enjoyed excellent weather. To paraphrase a popular saying (don't praise the day before the sunset), I would assert - "Don't discard the day before 10:00 am!"

Very busy weekend in Banff and Kananaskis

I am happy to announce that over the last weekend, 4-7 September, our club members were quite busy, making a few significant conquers. There were over 25 persons attending two camps in Banff and Canmore.

On Friday afternoon, a few members of the Banff Group explored Hoodoos.

Bow Valley Provincial Park

Bow Valley Provincial Park is a small park near Exshaw/Seebe in Kananaskis. With the Club's Harpagons busy with more ambitious objectives, and with Relaxation/Yoga Group exploring the Hoodoos Trail in Banff, it was my pleasure to visit the park with the two outstanding ladies: Barbara and Dusia.

The morning was rather cool and windy, so we quickly hit the trail. Starting from the parking near Middle Lake, we walked toward Bow River. The trails were well marked and there was no problem with finding directions.

Expedition Bihor and Vladease.

Expedition Bihor and Vladease, Romania, 2020

July, 12 – 25, 2020

Piotr Rajski asked me to write a brief reportage about my expedition to Romania. I didn’t take many photos as I had been saving the phone battery as we were usually too far away from all electric plugs.

Our aim was Bihor Mountains and Vladeasa in northwest Romania. And this is our team:
