Yamnuska (2025)

 12 July 2025

Yamnuska is a "cultish" mountain in Bow Valley, near Canmore. Long-time Mecca of climbers, predominantly from Calgary, Yamnuska is also popular with scramblers (those willing to do the whole traverse of Yamnuska) and hikers (those finishing the hike at Raven's End).

Yamnuska is so attractive that the song related to it has become the Club's anthem.  Not surprisingly, this time Yamnuska was visited by over 20 members of our Club, including the cream of it - all these beautiful women!

Mount Andromache (3033m), Aug13, 2022

Nestoring on Mt. Nestor?

Mt. Nestor is a prominent mountain in Kananaskis Country, with pleasing lines, and the height of almost 3000 meters (2975 m to be exact). It is a moderate scramble with the altitude gain of 1250 meters.

There are basically two ways to get to the top, as illustrated in this picture. With my companions we took the right gully as recommended by Alan Kane in "Scrambles of Canadian Rockies." (Clicking on the pictures allows to see them in bigger size.)

The Tower (3117 m), August 17/2019

The triumph of the Tower, or "freezing the blood in the veins show."

Saturday, 2018-08-18

(Clicking on the photos, you may see them in original size).

Though some of the club members tend to move toward "early retirement," luckily there is still a group of the club "hawks" who set ambitious goals for themselves. The last Saturday it happened to be the Tower, 3117 m, peak in Kananaskis that is evaluated in Alan Kane's book as "moderate scramble."
