Hiking Coliseum Mountain - a movie by Andy Rutkowski

 

Some people were "really" flying on the Coliseum Mountain, near Nordegg! Do not miss it!

Eagle Mountain (Nordegg)

We started the hike to the Eagle Mountain, 5 km east of Nordegg, as a whole group of 11 participants. The hike is considered to be hard. It has 15.1 km with  844 m of altitude gain. 

White Goat Falls (Nordegg)

 

... is short hike (3.1 km, +180 m) 45 km west of Nordegg. The Relaxed Group, consisting of Bożenna, Marianna, and this writer, did it on 3 August "just to stretch our legs." The hike was not without some challenges and overall quite rewarding ...

... as the falls happened to be quite picturesque. 

Shunda Creek Camp 2024

 

Shunda Creek Camp, which took place between 2nd and 5th of August, was attended by 15 persons. A lot happened, starting with Piotr Zielinski (pictured) and Roman Lipiecki scaling Mount Ernest Ross Via Ferrata, which is considered to be one of the most difficult in Canada. It involves negotiating a 7 meter long overhang, which Piotr, in the picture, is about to begin. More of the pictures from their adventure can be found here. 

Siffleur Falls

Siffleur Falls is a popular trail in Kootenay Ecological Reserve, about 50 km West from Nordegg. Most of the hikers do the trail until the First Falls, which is about 7 km (out and back) and can be done relatively quickly. Our group attempted to reach the Second Falls, about 15 km (out and back), and took a very leisury pace. 

Coral Creek - Cline River Loop

Coral Creek - Cline River Loop is an easy hike (+214 m) about 43 km West from Nordegg. The loop can likely be done in about 2 hours. With a very leisury pace, taking lots of pictures, it took us about 4 hours. We made about 10 km.

Mt. Coliseum and Nordegg Area Winter Hike

Unexpected event is always the best. So, when the weather says go, and the mountains say come, there is no excuse but to try a winter hike.

We recorded 9 km up with the elevation gain of 700 m and actual time of 4 hours. True winter summit! 

 Team comprised of Yanek, Ania, Brian, Asia, and Jola started the hike around 10AM on the beautiful Saturday morning.
