"Idź w góry, a otrzymasz ich dobrą nowinę. Pokój Natury popłynie do ciebie tak jak światło słońca płynie ku drzewom. Wiatry wwieją w ciebie swoją świeżość, a burze dadzą ci swoją energię, podczas gdy troski (tego świata) odpadną od ciebie jak jesienne liście." John Muir (1838-1914), szkocko-amerykański naturalista i propagator tworzenia parków narodowych, współzałożyciel organizacji ekologicznej Sierra Club.

Season preparations
We all can't wait to get to the mountains, but waiting is even harder on the club's "harpagons" (tough guys). On Tuesday two of them - Roman and Marek - got together to "train" before the season on the set of stairs near Fort Edmonton Footbridge. (Clicking on the photos allows to see them in bigger size).
In the spur of the moment I joined with them, as the weather was excellent, and the spot is beautiful.
Roman's plan was to make four sets of 200 steps (getting up and down four times).
Marek didn't seem to like the plan so much ...
... while Roman looked he could easily double the norm. Being in excellent form so early in the season, Roman will likely "fly" in the mountains, summitting at will.
I already had enough after one set of stairs, and remembering my experiences with Koko Crater Railway Trail near Honolulu, decided to be gentle on my hips and knees. I will try to get into form ... gradually!
So, Dear Club Members, take a notice - this is what "serious" season preparation looks like! Join us next time!
