The "End of Prohibiton" Hike in the River Valley

On May 29 we all met united under this great banner to take the part in our famous End-of-Prohibition hike. It was really nice to see that so many people turned out in support of this worthy cause!

Even some of our dear Members, whom we all love, recovered miraculously to attend our march.

This time we organized the hike that took us on a 7km loop in the River Valley from Hawrelak to Buena Vista Park and through the Groat Bridge back to Hawrelak Park.

First, we crossed the foot bridge into the Buena Vista Park. Our Chairman Peter came together with his faithful companion Ged.
On the river we could see some people paddling down, so Peter suggested to organize a kayaking trip from Devon to Edmonton.

Also, on the River we could see numerous families of Canadian Geese, just like these ones.

The trail took us through a beautiful forest with new spring growth and spring flowers.

Our Club Members seemed to enjoy the hike.

Our Polish Beauties beautified the forest with their smiles and their presence.

The trail was not all that easy, though. In some places it required the use of hands and moderate scrambling ability.

It was nice to see that everybody survived these difficult parts without losing any body parts and without losing the smile.

The trail took us along the river and through the Groat Bridge.....

...back to the Picnic Site #1, where this nice sign was awaiting us, declaring that Alcohol Consumption is Allowed.

We could not resist the temptation, and...

Nolens volens, we fell obliged to follow the rules.

We spent the rest of the afternoon having a nice party in the open,

Where we could legally enjoy a drink or two,

among friends in a cheerful atmosphere.
