Dear Friends, last Thursday a big group of our club members, and a broader Polish (and international) Community, gathered in Hawrelak Park to celebrate our Esteemed Member, Bożena Wojno, on occasion of her receiving ...
... a Silver Award of Merit from Canadian Polish Congress, acknowledging her contribution to Polish culture in Canada. This is how Bośnia explained the reason for her award:
W kwestii formalnej winna jestem wszystkim małe wyjaśnienie co do moich
zasług dla dobra Polonii.
Z mojej strony krzewienie kultury Polskiej, zawsze było celem mojej działalności w polskich organizacjach.
Od ponad 20 lat śpiewu z Chórem Polonia, gdzie mogłam doświadczyć jak bardzo istotne jest krzewienie kultury polskiej i naszego dziedzictwa narodowego.
Przez 15 lat brałam udziału w amatorskich kabarecikach chóru Polonia, ażeby pokazać naszej Polonii naszą kulturę przez śpiew, poezję i taniec.
W chórze dano mi szanse na samodzielne projekty kabaretowe, gdzie przy współpracy z innymi mogliśmy odkrywać nasze nowe możliwości w przekazie polskości na scenie.
Od paru lat jestem związana z Federacją Polek i jej nadzwyczajnym zarządem oraz bardzo twórczej Prezes P. Halina Madej. To tutaj dano mi i innym kobietom z tej organizacji szansę na utworzenie teatrzyku dla tej organizacji.
Entuzjazm tych kobiet był nadzwyczajny i pełen fantastycznej energii. Założenie było, że teatrzyk będzie działał tylko wewnątrz organizacji ....
Resztę Państwo znacie z marcowego występu .....
Bez moich poprzedników jak Piotr Rajski, Jola Asenhajmer i wspaniałej tekściarki jak Ula Kunikiewicz oraz wszystkich wykonawców nie byłoby żadnych sukcesów.
Jestem bezgranicznie wdzięczna że obdarzono mnie zaufaniem i za powierzane mi zadania do wykonania. Mogłam dorastać na wielu płaszczyznach, pamiętając że podpierają mnie ludzie, którzy wierzą że każdy z nas ma sporo potencjału na wielu płaszczyznach.

Then it was time for festivities:
Thanks to the efforts of the main organizer, Barbara ...
... there was plenty of excellent food to choose from ...
... not to mention drinks. The Most Reliable Ania didn't disappoint and delivered a couple of rounds of "pikusie."
The event was attended by many esteemed guests, like Wojtek and Marian ...
... Yanek ...
... and Jarek, all of whom put on white shirts as requested by Barbara.
There were also some suspiciously looking individuals ...
... and a couple of "black sheep," who then had to tell jokes in order to "buy themselves out" ("wykupić się").
Sławek, who seemingly ate too much of my "sałatka" ...
... nevertheless demonstrated an impressive climbing aptitude (as one could expect from a member of a mountaineering club).
But, most importantly, there was a plethora of beautiful Polish women ...
... some focused on food ...
... others on drinking!
Not surprisingly, Mike, a great "bies na kobiety," rushed to pick up the best out of the "towar."
Quite naturally, our Bosnian friend, Sasza, focused on ... Bośnia!
He was not the only one. Bośnia was shining so much that Jola decided to marry her!
Luckily, shortly before she was to say "yes," Jola caught "a look of love" from Kent, and it averted the whole scenario.
Finally, "Pani Kierowniczka" made "enter of the dragon" ...
... and told men ...
... and women to stop eating and drinking ...
... and start dancing!
